Scaling signals: businesses getting bigger
The Scaling family covers businesses that appear to be getting bigger: taking on people, borrowing, issuing shares or showing a stronger balance sheet.
Signals in this family
- Net assets up
- New secured lending
- Issued new shares
- New director
Who finds it useful
Examples: office space and fit-out providers, IT and telecoms suppliers, recruiters, insurance and finance brokers, and commercial property agents.
What it does not mean
Scaling does not mean profitable or healthy. New borrowing can be a sign of pressure as easily as expansion, and issuing shares can be a restructure. A strong balance sheet in the latest accounts describes a past year.
How to use it
Use the growing companies page or the established-company search at /companies and choose "Currently growing". Other Scaling signals appear in a company's Activity section and in alerts. See Search established companies.
