    Companies House - Our Data Source

    Companies House is the UK government's official register of companies. All company information is Crown Copyright data, publicly available under the Open Government Licence. We use the official Companies House REST API to fetch company data - no scraping, no purchased data, no third-party aggregators.

    What We Ingest

    We ingest publicly available company information: company name, company number, SIC codes, registered office address, incorporation date, company status, officers, persons with significant control (PSCs), and filing history. All of this information is already publicly accessible through the Companies House website.

    What We Add

    On top of the raw Companies House data, we add smart categorisation by industry, shell company detection, geographic filtering, email alerts for saved searches, CSV and Excel exports, and a clean interface designed for B2B prospecting. We turn raw government data into actionable leads.

    Compliance & Security

    NewcoHunter is GDPR-compliant. All data is stored on servers located in the EU. Payments are processed securely by Stripe - we never see or store your card details. User passwords are hashed with bcrypt. All connections are encrypted with TLS.

    Account Security

    User passwords are hashed with bcrypt before storage - we do not hold plain-text credentials. Authentication uses server-side sessions rather than JWTs, so session data is stored on the server and not exposed in browser storage. Sessions expire automatically after a set period.

    Data Retention

    We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, your personal data is deleted. Company register data (sourced from Companies House) is retained to support search history and alerts.

    Can I Contact These Companies?

    All company registration data shown in NewcoHunter is publicly available Crown Copyright information, published under the Open Government Licence. B2B outreach to companies using their publicly registered details is generally lawful under UK GDPR's legitimate interests basis (Article 6(1)(f)). You should still follow professional best practices: identify yourself clearly, explain why you are making contact, and make it straightforward to opt out. NewcoHunter does not provide personal email addresses or phone numbers - only officially registered company information from Companies House.
