Contactable by post only
"Contactable by post only" keeps companies that have a real registered address and a named director, and leaves out bulk formation-agent addresses. It is the filter to use when you plan to send letters.
Switch it on
- Go to Search New Companies.
- Open More filters.
- Tick Contactable by post only.
- Check the preview count. It drops, because only companies you can mail are left.
If you save the search, the filter is saved with it, so your alerts follow the same rule.
Why use it
New companies rarely have a website, email or phone number we can verify, but every company has a registered address and named directors. For most new companies, post is the most dependable way to reach a person. See Contact details.
Next steps
- Export the list on Pro or Business, or buy it once. The spreadsheet has an FAO column with a director's name, followed by the address columns, so it drops into a mail merge. See Send a mailing.
- Read the rules before you write: Direct mail and new companies.
What it does not mean
It does not mean the director is expecting your letter or wants it. It only means there is a proper address and a name to put on the envelope.
