Send a mailing to new companies
To mail new companies, search with "Contactable by post only", export or buy the list, then use the FAO and address columns in a mail merge. Every company has a registered address, so post reaches more of them than email or phone.
Steps
- Go to Search New Companies and choose your sector and place.
- Under More filters, tick Contactable by post only. See Contactable by post only.
- Check the count in the preview. If it is large, narrow by location so each mailing is a size you can afford.
- Click Export and choose Excel or CSV. On Free, buy the list once instead. See Buy a one-off list.
- Open the file. The columns run left to right in the order you need: FAO, Address Line 1, Address Line 2, Locality, Region, Postcode, Country.
- Use your word processor or mail-merge tool to produce letters or labels from those columns.
Tips
- Delete rows with a blank FAO if you only want to address a named person.
- Save the search and mail each week's new companies while they are still new. See Save a search.
- Companies you have mailed can be marked in your pipeline. Set the lead status on the company profile, and it appears in later exports.
Before you send
Letters to companies are covered by UK rules on marketing and personal data. Read Direct mail and new companies and UK GDPR and directors.
How you know it worked
Each row in your file has a name and a full postal address, and your merge produces one letter per company.
