Check if your proposed company name is available at Companies House. See similar registered names and potential conflicts.
How Company Name Checking Works
When you register a new company, Companies House checks your proposed name against all existing registered companies. A name will be rejected if an identical name already exists, the name is "the same as" an existing name after removing standard suffixes, or the name contains sensitive words that require approval.
Tips for Choosing a Company Name
Be distinctive - avoid generic descriptions
Check trademarks too - a company name that infringes a registered trademark can be challenged
Check the domain - see if a matching .co.uk or .com is available
Avoid sensitive words like "British", "Authority", "Charity", or "Group"
